Frozen Past Feeling

January is the longest month of the year. The cold.... is one of my least favorite things. This month I'm grateful for warm houses, delicious food from warm ovens, and blankets - lots of them.
We pass our time in our the basement dressed in style to stay warm.
Jumping off the bathroom stool into a blanket swimming pool. This is one of our favorites; between dragging all the soft items to the front room and then jumping in over and over again it lasts a long time and expends LOTS of energy.
What happens the weekend after I let the kiddos help me fill my flour bucket. Tate found Ian enjoying himself and in recollection told me, "I made the best decision for my friends to have fun and  I went in second." It was too cold to brush them off outside. The bath that followed required four or five shampoo-ings to remove all the water +flour = dough. Tate is disappointed the flour has found a new home to reside in for its safety and my sanity.
For my birthday we went to the mall and I sat while these kiddos exhausted themselves on the toys. A little girl decided to chase Ian around and he was in HEAVEN being the leader. He's going to love having a little sister. He was almost in tears when I declared us done. We treated ourselves to some food court Chick-fil-a after to end an excellent morning.
The morning excitement resulted in this, a first for many months. If it wasn't 7 degrees outside I would have enjoyed it longer in the car. I am blessed Ian stays asleep on the transfer to his bed.
Josh took me to Olive Garden for dinner. It was delicious. Tate and Ian stayed with a friend because Tate wasn't interested in going. I always loved going out to eat; I wonder if my kiddos ever will.
Rice play to pass the time inside.
We got a book about creating a dream car and this is what Tate designed. It's highlights include ghosts that bring you candy any time you say Trick-or-Treat, speed that allows you to outrun the police and daddy, and it can fly.
Tate made his own Bob the Builder belt out of a necklace. He was ready to fix anything and everything.
We went to an Icetraveganza on Saturday. There was a guy carving ice things with a chain saw. It was really awesome but so cold. I lost the vote to stay and watch 3 to 1 because all my boys were too cold.
The fire dog made an appearance.
 Our freeze frame picture.
I can't believe how big this boy is getting!
Keeping warm in the basement with dad. He was teaching them to use what they could find - 18 month attire. This man of mine is so creative. (Note the shirt of Josh's head)
